Day 135 -- Oatmeal

Sunday, January 13, 2013

When: Sunday, January 13th, 2013

Where: Dog park, studio

What is up with this cold, LA? It's become so hard for me to come up with good outfits when I'm freezing my butt off. It was painfully windy and frigid the last time we were at the dog park, so this time I opted for layers on layers.

I guess I was in a brown mood, because everything I reached for was oatmeal colored. Alex even remarked that I looked like an oatmeal sandwich, which is probably true.

I vow never to wear these colors together again. I plead momentary insanity due extreme cold.

Day 134 -- Hot Pants

Saturday, January 12, 2013

When: Saturday, January 12th, 2013

Where: To our jewelers in Beverly Hills, out to dinner with Alex and his brother, Scott

I was finally feeling better, and ready to get out of bed. To celebrate my reintegration into society, I donned some hot pink pants, and heels. I was going to Beverly Hills, after all. And you all know how it went the last time I was there without heels on.

It's fun saying we have a jeweler in BH. Feels so shishi. We went to go pick my engagement ring up, and I'm so glad to have it back! It feels a bit funny wearing it again. I took it off to wash my hands, and forgot to put it on for hours!

Fun tidbit: I wore this tee shirt the very first time I met Alex. So now I can't get rid of it.

Day 132 -- Light and Dark

Friday, January 11, 2013

When: Thursday, January 11th, 2013

Where: To the movies! Arclight Cinemas in Sherman Oaks

I spwnt most of the day in the lululemon gear after coming back from the dog park, but I couldn't bring myself to swear running leggings and a sweatshirt out to the movies. So I upgraded a bit.

Not that you could tell by these photos, but I swapped out my running leggings, for leather ones, updated my sneaks to a pair of boots, and threw a snood, heather tee, and a black moto jacket on top.

My favorite glitter bag rounded out the look (and also stashed extra movie candy)!

Day 133 -- Laid Up

Thursday, January 10, 2013

When: Friday, January 10th, 2013

Where: Sick in bed

I was thisclose to not posting anything for today, because I'ma  big old sicky pants stuck in bed with the grossies. But I feel duty bound to report on my wears, so here you have it.

Please note the time on the bedside clock. It's 5:55, and yes, that little dot means PM, and I have not managed to get out of my PJs or do anything. This is what they call a sick day. Lucky my pup was around to keep me company. Let's not dwell on these photos too long.

Day 130 -- Mix and Match

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

When: Tuesday, January 8th, 2013

Where: Furniture shopping, visit to the jewelers, and a haircut for Alex, all in Beverly Hills

Check me out lounging on our new orange couch! We had been to two Crate&Barrels in two days, but it turns out that the third location on the third day was the charm. Just as we were about to give up hope on finding our perfect loveseat... there she was, sitting in the corner with a big red markdown tag on her!

This wasn't a very Beverly Hills approved outfit. First off, I'm not wearing heels, which I'm pretty sure means I wasn't supposed to be within city limits, but alas.

I don't think such a silly mix of prints was much admired in BH, either. There's more of a conservative, designer-driven style round those parts, and sadly, I left my slacks, silk button down, and louboutins at home. I love mixing prints, and I adore this mix of dots, ethnic pattern, and stripe. Keeping everything black and white made it work -- at least according to me.

But my most egregious mistake was wearing these tights. I garnered a good amount of funny looks while sporting these down Rodeo Boulevard. I think to see me coming, it looked like my legs were just extra, super pale. I am fair, but not that much! You can see they are just hose when I turn around.

Day 131 -- Downton Dreaming

When: Wednesday, January 9th, 2013

Where: Studio, business errands

I stopped in Anthro yesterday and nearly blew The Challenge in the sale section. A floral knee length dress on deep discount almost tempted me away from my spending fast. I had to tell myself to walk away.

I'm glad I did. There was no reason to spend money one a new dress when I had something in my closet that could satisfy my fashion craving. I pulled this soft flowery high-low dress I got rather recently. I got this dress so a steal, so it's a double whammy -- I won't regret missing the great sale yesterday, nor will I miss out on fun florals!

Alex and I have my addicted to Downton Abbey lately, so I was feeling the dressed-for-dinner look tonight. This long pearl necklace added just the touch of 1920s vintage glam I was looking for, and this deep red lipstick gave my that dark romantic feel. I even think this mumsy sweater feels a bit WWI.

While I haven't been spending any money on clothing lately, I have spent a little bit to update our home. I told you yesterday about the couch we grabbed at Crate&Barrel, but today I want to introduce to to our new butcher block counter top! As you can see behind me, we had a super awkward space that was just begging for added storage and useable counter space. Amazingly, we found that absolute perfect fit at Ikea! Alex did a wonderful job of putting it together and I'm so excited to cook on it. We even added these really fun rabbit shaped drawer pulls to dress the piece up a bit.

We're looking for art to put on that wall behind me, so if anyone has some bright ideas about something I could paint, let me know! I'm taking suggestions.

Day 129 -- Layered Neutrals

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

When: Monday, January 7th, 2013

Where: Shopping for our house -- Ikea, second Crate&Barrel in two days, Pasadena Antique Center

I knew today was going to be a busy one running all over down bargain hunting for new pieces for our home, so I wanted a no-fuss, practical outfit. To keep from looking totally drab in greys, blacks, and navy, I added a sparkly glass necklace. I elevated my look just a teeny tiny bit.
