Day 353 -- Taco Party

Sunday, August 18, 2013
When: Sunday, August 18th, 2013

Where: Mom's garden for a taco truck party!

Oops! This is the only picture I snapped of my outfit. I guess I was just having too much fun eating tacos and drinking wine!

My mom treated me to a little shopping spree this morning, and she insisted that I get this dress. She knows me well enough to know that I would flip over this polar bear dress. And flip I did! Thanks mom!

Shoes: Via Spiga | Necklace: Also a gift from Mom!

Day 352 -- Road Tripping

Saturday, August 17, 2013

When: Saturday, August 17th, 2013

Where: Road tripping up the California coast

Whenever I travel, I try to dress as comfortably as I can. Now, I know what you're thinking -- those heels are crazy! And yes, they are. For most of the drive, I was barefoot with a dog in my lap. I really wanted to pack these shoes for my mom's upcoming garden party, but they didn't fit in my weekend bag, so I just wore them! Problem solved.

I've been wearing this polka dot dress a lot this summer, so I wanted to find a way to style it differently. I thought wearing a pencil skirt underneath would give the dress a sort of peplum effect. It also lengthened the hem line enough to make it appropriate for those fill-up breaks at those pesky truck stops.

Day 351 -- Mainstay

Friday, August 16, 2013

When: Friday, August 16th, 2013

Where: Meeting at Mimi and Hy, Working at Trinkets, and Shooting at Vitellos, part 2

When I know I have a busy day coming up, I always try to dress as comfortably as possible. I knew I was going to have to jump from a meeting, to a shift in the gift shop, on to working as a second shooter for Alex in a dark night club... which usually means dark clothing.

This summer, maxi skirts and sheer fabrics have been my mainstay. On days when I don't feel like shaving my legs (or my underarms for that matter), an outfit like this can work wonders! This would be a great look to transition into fall, but the lightweight fabrics work perfectly for these super stifling summer days!

Day 350 -- Queen Bee

Thursday, August 15, 2013

When: Thursday, August 15th, 2013

Where: Filming Jazz at Vitellos

So what, I'm working as a shooter and I'm not wearing black? Alex said it was okay! Plus, I was trying to look like a royal for the Coast to Coast Challenge. See the royal blue and queen bee inspiration?

I used to wear this blue lace dress all the time when I worked at Alexis Bittar. After a few washes, it has definitely shrunk a bit, but there will be no replacing it until next January! Still, it's a reliable piece and I love wearing it!

Day 349 -- Roots

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

When: Wednesday, August 14th, 2013

Where: Studio

Phew! Another hot day! How much do you love my roots? I'm really overdue for a dye job. But also? Really poor. So, there you go. FYI, I am wearing my summer uniform bike shorts underneath this way to short dress, do don't accuse me of being indecent again, okay?

Can you tell that I took a big swing of iced coffee before I started writing this blog post? Also, look at those shoes I haven't worn in forever! Everyone loves a good nude sandal!!

Day 348 -- Cool Gal

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

When: Tuesday, August 13th, 2013

Where: Studio, Errands

For the first time in a long time, I felt like a real cool LA girl running my errands in this modern asymmetrical top layered over this permapleated full skirt. Even in my dingy black flats, and my greasy hair pulled into a low bun, I still felt like skipping and strutting down the street with confidence radiating from my pore.

But this outfit would be nothing without the accessories! Remember my banana necklace? I had almost forgotten it existed, too! (Now, if only I could find my bicycle necklace!) Layering a hot pink lacy bandeau bra under the slightly sheer grey fabric of my tank made for a subtle pop of color and a little more coverage. But the piece de resistance of this outfit is the fabulous cobalt blue gold framed bag! It's deep enough to hold my computer and cute enough to wear everywhere. Here's to the accessories!

Day 347 -- Hostess

Monday, August 12, 2013

When: Monday, August 12th, 2013

Where: Being the Hostess with the Mostess

I hosted my very first adult dinner party, complete with fancy cocktails, three courses, and a 14-layer cake! I had the best time and I can't wait to do it again!

Of course, I had to wear my best duds including my new pair of wedges that I got pretty much for free at Target! I'm so obsessed with the neon-accented beauties, I can hardly wait to wear them again... out in public... somewhere besides my studio.
