Day 349 -- Roots

Phew! Another hot day! How much do you love my roots? I'm really overdue for a dye job. But also? Really poor. So, there you go. FYI, I am wearing my summer uniform bike shorts underneath this way to short dress, do don't accuse me of being indecent again, okay?

Can you tell that I took a big swing of iced coffee before I started writing this blog post? Also, look at those shoes I haven't worn in forever! Everyone loves a good nude sandal!!

Day 348 -- Cool Gal

When: Tuesday, August 13th, 2013

Where: Studio, Errands

 For the first time in a long time, I felt like a real cool LA girl running my errands in this modern asymmetrical top layered over this permapleated full skirt. Even in my dingy black flats, and my greasy hair pulled into a low bun, I still felt like skipping and strutting down the street with confidence radiating from my pore.

But this outfit would be nothing without the accessories! Remember my banana necklace? I had almost forgotten it existed, too! (Now, if only I could find my bicycle necklace!) Layering a hot pink lacy bandeau bra under the slightly sheer grey fabric of my tank made for a subtle pop of color and a little more coverage. But the piece de resistance of this outfit is the fabulous cobalt blue gold framed bag! It's deep enough to hold my computer and cute enough to wear everywhere. Here's to the accessories!

Day 347 -- Hostess

Where: Being the Hostess with the Mostess

I hosted my very first adult dinner party, complete with fancy cocktails, three courses, and a 14-layer cake! I had the best time and I can't wait to do it again!

Of course, I had to wear my best duds including my new pair of wedges that I got pretty much for free at Target! I'm so obsessed with the neon-accented beauties, I can hardly wait to wear them again... out in public... somewhere besides my studio.

Day 346 -- Zodiac

Another day, another parking lot sale. Time to deploy the silk maxi dress! I wore this thing in the hot Texas sun, of course I would wear it out on the asphalt!

The zodiac print of this dress was quite the conversation starter on the backlot! It was such a big hit, I was worried someone might try to purchase it off my back to match their vintage bangles and gemini bottle opener.

Day 345 -- Beat the Heat

Where: Working at Trinkets

This chevron dress was generously gifted to me by my future mother in law to wear to the Red Sox game. It's perfect for those hot days outside, which is why I chose it to wear to the parking lot sale at work. Hovering under an umbrella trying to catch some shade combined with the breathability of this frock definitely contributed to my staying cool in the hundred degree heat.

I love this dress so much, I wish I had it in every color! I could live in soft jersey v-neck dresses forever!

Day 344 -- Perfectly Plaid

Hooray for new clothing! This printed plaid shirt is one of my most recent acquisitions... And I love it! Over the course of this year without shopping, I've let the love of clothing slip away from me. I lost the excitement over getting dressed because it felt like a chore or a challenge I didn't feel up to. I spent some time over the past few days reading my old blog posts. The joy I derived from owning a new, fabulous dress could practically rocket me into outer space.

Dressing in my new shirt, even paring it with some older pieces, reminded me why I love fashion. While it is constantly changing, fashion always cycles back to the classics. Nude heels. A full skirt. A string of pearls. Add a splash of color, a fun print, a swipe of lipstick makes it all new again...!

Day 343 -- Parisian Chic

Wearing all black can be so Parisian chic! Usually when Alex asks me to dress in dark clothing for a taping, I throw on my same old dark wash jeans and a long sleeve tee. But today? No! It was time to bust out the waxed denim leather look jeans and sheer tunic!

I love this ultra-simple side of me. It's fun to toss aside my usual pastel dresses for a darker look... for a little while.
