Day 181 -- The Business Woman

Thursday, February 28, 2013

When: Thursday, February 28th, 2013

Where: Out to meet the fashion director of a major (at least to me!) publication!

This is one of those major moment outfits. I won't say where I went, or who I met with, because I'm not keen on jinxing things, and I find it impolite to write about people on a blog when they don't know about it... so, there that is. But, I will say that I was very happy with how to meeting went and it was such a great learning experience!

I tried to dress to impress and look like an adult. I think a blazer is appropriate for any ocassion, especially a business meeting. I wore it over a dress of my own design, which, by the way, is available on my etsy right now! I topped it off with some fun and practical accessories. A giant bag, for once, was totally necessary.

Day 180 -- Eclectic Mix

Wednesday, February 27, 2013
 When: Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

Where: Lunch with Karisa on Melrose, studio

I liked too many of these poolside photos to narrow it down. So you get em all!

Day 179 -- Darkly Dreaming

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

When: Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

Where: Studio

It's a shame these photos are so dark, because the colors in this outfit are really fun! This outfit came together late in the day when I "had" to run out to Target. I mixed and matched a robin's egg blue tank with yellow shoes and sweater, and a berry purple pencil skirt. It felt so fun and spring-y.

I'm really excited this year to enjoy holidays in our new house. I'm already dreaming up so many St Patrick's Day and Easter celebrations! Maybe I was just channeling a well-dyed egg today.

Day 178 -- Spring Has Sprung

Monday, February 25, 2013

When: Monday, February 25th, 2013

Where: Studio, Jessica's house for The Bachelor and chocolate cup cake eating

Nothing says, "I'm confused about what season it is," like wearing sandals strapped over leggings.

At least the pink and black tied into the bunny print on my dress, which really is the focal point of this outfit.

Shoes: Urban Outfitters | Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Day 177 -- Casual Sunday

Sunday, February 24, 2013

When: Sunday, February 24th, 2013

Where: Melrose Trading Post

This is my best effort at a cute jeans and tee shirt outfit. I feel that if I'm not wearing a dress, I'm not "dressed." Jeans have always felt like a fashion cop-out, but sometimes, if I'm tired enough, you can catch me in a pair on plain old blue jeans.

I made the look marginally more interesting by including a doggy shirt and polka dot flats, but really nothing is too thrilling about this outfit. I wore it to the flea market to sell my wares, but soon wore out and came home to crash out in bed with the puppy while watching the Oscars and eating girl scout cookies. Gee, I'm a really tough boss.

Sweater: Gap | Shirt: Anthropologie, gift from mom | Jeans: Rich and Skinny via Marshall'
Shoes: Restricted via TJ Maxx

Day 176 -- Day to Night

Saturday, February 23, 2013

When: Saturday, February 23rd, 2013

Where: The Local Peasant for drinks and dessert.

It's almost not even worth writing about this outfit because it's so hard to see it, and the good part is covered up by a jacket.

Alex and I walked to our favorite local bar on a cold and windy Saturday night to enjoy some drinks and chocolate cake. I wore a little black dress because I don't think the bouncer would have appreciated my sweat pants, and tank top look from earlier in the day.

Day 175 -- Strawberry-Kiwi

Friday, February 22, 2013
When: Friday, February 22nd, 2013

Where: Road trippin'!

This is just one of those left over, scraping the bottom of the suit case, thrown together kind of outfits. After partying late into the night celebrating the fashion show's success, Alex and I got up super early, loaded up the car and headed back south in time to make it to a concert he was recording that night. I had planned all my vacation outfits except for the traveling home one, and this is just what was left of the extras I packed.

Even though this look is rather haphazard, I love the strawberry-kiwi color scheme! It's making me crave a snapple just looking at this outfit! And that little stepping stone I'm standing on looks like an oreo... or maybe it's just past lunch time and I getting a bit peckish.

Day 174 -- On The Catwalk

Thursday, February 21, 2013

When: Thursday, February 21st, 2013

Where: RallyPad for the fashion show!

The fashion show came and went in a total blur! I'm so happy with how it came out, and I can't wait to share some photos with you! For the occasion, I could find no better ensemble to wear, but one of my own new designs. Check me out working the runway and greeting the crowd!

This dress is a new style that I've just added to the line, and I think it's my favorite yet. It's so comfortable and flattering.  The waistline can expand to fit a whole pregnant belly, but it looks so cute nipped in with a belt.

I accessorized with a stack of AB bangles and earrings, my signature California necklace, and a pair of sky-high DVf strappy heels. I had so much fun hobnobbing with San Francisco's most stylish, and even taking a spin down the runway myself after my show.

Stay tuned, there are more photos of the event to come... and this dress will be listed on etsy soon. You can buy the very dress that sashayed down the runway at Expect.'s debut show!

Day 173 -- The Perfect Skirt

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

When: Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 -- Happy Birthday, Dad!

Where: Mitchell Park with the pup, Mayfield Cafe for lunch, RallyPad for a dress rehearsal.

For a busy day, a maxi skirt is so reliable. I find that a long skirt can work for many different occassions. Its length can lend it towards more formal events, but since it's also so trendy, it works for more casual hanging out, or for work.

This is one of my favorite skirts, not only because of the pleats and print, or because it was a gift from my sister, Maija... but because I was proposed to in it! Wearing it brings back such happy memories.

I got engaged in the summer and wore this skirt with a white tube top, but due to the chilly weather in NorCal, I layered a tunic and jacket with it. A low slung wide belt and matching black purse completed this outfit and I was off and running!

Day 172 -- Printed Lady

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

When: Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

Where: Parents house, walking around Bol Park

It rained most of our first day in Palo Alto, but when the sun came out, it was absolutely beautiful! It was nice to be out in the fresh air and sunshine, and not be swallowed up by a cloud of LA smog. We enjoyed walking around the park, visiting the donkeys, chickens, goats, and multimillion dollar mansions.

When I came downstairs, my mom gave me the once over and said, "So you're wearing, one, two... three patterns? Okay." That's just what I do. I will always feel bad about telling her friend, Kay, that she wasn't allowed to mix prints. As I recall, she was wearing a pair of lovely brown pants with a patterned weave, and a coordinating printed shirt in brown as well. I was about 14 and felt I was the local authority of fashion. I think I may have spoke too soon... Mixing prints is the best!

I know I really disparaged of wearing pants in the past, however, since starting working from home -- a drafty, cold home at that! -- pants have become my favorite go-to outfit starter. I've found that I love all kinds of pants, leggings, jeans, colored and printed denim, slacks, sweats -- I love them all! I do feel a bit like I'm cheating when I wear pants though... like this outfit was just a bit too easy.
