Day 4 -- Slacker

So. I was just reviewing the first three days of my what-I-wore posts, and I realized that I've worn a fit and flare dress with a belt at the waist three days in a row.
 
For anyone who doesn't know, I started blogging my outfits again as a challenge to myself. I was recently taking inventory of my closet and I found I had over 100 dresses, about 10 of which I wore on a regular basis. I hardly ever wear bifurcated pants. People have even commented to me how seldom they've seen me in a pair of jeans, it's that apparent.

Nonetheless, I do have a small collection of cute sartorial accoutrement that separate one leg from another.

Which bring me to my point. I didn't start blogging again to see how many days in a row I could wear a variation of the same look.

I started blogging again to challenge myself to wear something different everyday until I've exhausted my closet. I wanted to do it as an effort to prove to myself that my closet is full of amazing clothes so that I would stop shopping every time I felt I had "nothing to wear."

So, behold. Pants.

I always feel so weird in pants. I think my two legs are friends and anything that separates them they distinctly dislike. They just prefer being in the same sleeve of fabric rather than plunged into the solitary confinement that is a pair of, albeit beautiful, denim jeans.

 I picked up these floral-printed beauties from ASOS last month and I've already worn them twice -- that really speaks to how much I love them. The fun and feminine print really make me feel more comfortable wearing an article of clothing I feel are really meant for men.

To quote a coworker, friend, and fellow blogger, Ashley Heaton of thefashiongeek.net, "I just don't understand why women wear pants." Well said, Ashley! I don't really know why I wore these either.

Since these pants are pretty loud, I paired them with quieter pieces. A simple grey tank, silver Dolce Vita tassel sandals, my absolute favorite vegan leather Marc by Marc Jacobs tote rounded out the look. For a tiny pop of color, I added s yellow belt I thrifted years ago, and my favorite Alexis Bittar jewels.

Now soak it in, because you probably won't see one of my legs defined from the other for a long time...

Day 3 -- Ketchup and Mustard

In honor of the hot dog I won't be eating this Labor Day, since I'm at work, I decided to celebrate with a barbecue themed outfit!




Red and yellow together always say "ketchup and mustard" to me. This yellow dress is so springy and fun and when it's topped of with just the right amount of red accessories, I really can't help but feel like a perfectly dressed hot dog!

Yeah, it's kind of weird.

I love this lace dress from Urban Outfitters so much, I have it in two colors. The shape of it is like a cross between a 1950s house dress and a figure skaters costume. And the open back is so adorable!

I love these carnelian pieces u borrowed from work today. They match the Alice&Olivia belt I wore so perfectly. I might just have to make this necklace my own...

I finished off the look with my go-to flats of the season.


These Navajo blanket-esque Madden Girl flats have every color imaginable in them, so I know they'll match anything I might happen to be wearing.

It makes it really hard to rotate any other pair of shoes into the mix.

Day 2 -- Pretty Pastels

I put on my Sunday Best!


This is an dress from Antrhopologie that I got in high school in super sale. It didn't fit me for most of college and I actually recently rediscovered it when I moved back to California.

This type of dress wouldn't get much use in Boston, but I find me self reaching for it all time now that I'm in LA. I love the retro, breezy cut of it contrasted with a modern, almost pixel-like print in pretty pastels.


Since it seems like this SoCal heat wave we've been having won't let up, I opted for a pair of baby pink ankle strap sandals to keep me cool.

I had fun getting dressed in my Alexis Bittar finery at work today, and decided to amp up the garden party effect of this dress with a dragonfly pin. Isn't he cute?

Day 1 -- Bowhead

It's September 1st! It's fall!




Here's me in my summer to fall crossover outfit.
I still have a few days until labor day, so I squeezed my last little bit of white in for the year. I don't really follow fashion rules like that, but this white lace dress from forever 21 seemed like the perfect last ditch summertime getup.

I added these great boots from urban outfitters to make the outfit feel more fall. I never understood open toe boots until I moved to LA. They are totally functionless, but cute! These ones kind of look like those Ann Demeulemeester lace up boots Carrie wore in the SATC movie, which is what attracted me to them.




I'm rocking my favorite new bad hair day hairdo. When I was growing up, my mom and her friend Patty would always joke about these women in the PTA who were super annoying and elitist and always wore huge fluffy bows in their hair. They called them the bowheads when they would complain about them, and the funny name always stuck with me.

I found this great style on pinterest and it's really easy and I love how cutesy it is! It's just like being a lazy Minnie Mouse!

I'm also sporting lots of borrowed Alexis Bittar jewels. I mean, how beautiful is this necklace?!

Wow! I can't believe it's September.

September always feels like fall to me, and with that comes new beginnings. This is my first September out of school, but I help but get that "back-to-school" feeling this time of year anyway!

It's been a year already since I left Boston, and nearly as long as the last time I blogged. I've decided it's time to get back on the horse and try this again.

Before I return to my daily outfit posts, I wanted to review the best moments and looks of the last year.

A lot has happened...

1. Alex and I moved across the country, officially moved in together, and made our first purchase as a couple.

Check him out cheezin' on the couch we bought! It was so exciting and seemed like the biggest deal at the time. Our stuff was starting to merge...!

2. I also bought a car. Huge deal. I can't thank everyone enough for all the advice and support supplied during this process! I love my Peanut and I couldn't be happier to have my own wheels!




Style note: I wore a pair of urban outfitters spotted navy, white and green shorts with a navy sweatershirt and a pair of keds. Definitely one of the most juvenile outfits I could have possibly worn to one of the most adult events of my life. Oh well...

3. I started two new jobs! I began working as a sales associate at Alexis Bittar at the same time as I started intering at Fiel Shoes. I've learned so much at both places and working two jobs in the fashion industry has really helped me to grow as a designer and a person. I wish I had photos to post of shoe heaven and the costume jewerly sanctuary I work in...

4. I became completly nail art obsessed.

5. You may have noticed some extra bling in those last few photos because, that's right, Alex and I got engaged in June!

It was seriously one of the best and most bewildering moments of my life. I literally had no idea what Alex was up to until he was actually down on one knee. If I had know how many pictures were going to be taken of me that day, I might have bothered to put on makeup.

Alex's even re-proposed the next week when the orginal ring was being sized with a great $6.50 CZ!

6. I got to know my new city and wore some pretty okay outfits, I guess.

Anyway, I wore a pair of ultra skinny jeans by J Brand, an awesome faux-suede BB Dakota biker jacket and a floral top. I wore my fav rose gold spiky smoking slippers, which Alex won't let me wear anymore because they are so heinously smelly from wearing them without socks too much. Sorry, overshare.

So fresh.

This is San Francisco on the 4th of July. It was freezing, so I bundled with an All Saints leather jacket, a J Crew scarf  (the first thing Alex ever gave me), over a royal blue lace dress from Urban. Check out my green-screen green Kate Spade bag front and center!

I looked so edible in my peach-printed dress at the LACMA, Aex tried to eat me!

This was one of the first days I actually felt cool in LA. So cool, in fact, that I took the time to photograph myself in the mirror of the store. I'm wearing a great body-con dress from ASOS. I will wear anything with an animal on it!

Alex snapped this of me in Palm Springs -- can you belive it? -- on our mini vacation there. My hair turned green from the pool and I'm wearing a yellow polka dot dress from I don't know where.



Here I am celebrating my recent engagement at my parents house. I've taken to wearing this  ditzy printed All Saints dress whenever I'm in a pinch. It's so easy and cute!



This has become my go-to day off look. I'm wearing a soft striped jersey dress from Target and a jersey cardigan I've had for probably six years. Throw some velvet keds in the mix and you've got me on any Tuesday or Wednesday of the month!
(Karisa's outfit is pretty cute too!)

Waking Up in Vegas

Sometime between pulling out of Arches National Park, and waking up at 6 am to a neon orange morning tent glow, we made the decision to cut the crap and just head to Vegas.

This posed a major problem for me, as I had not planned an outfit for this city. If I had known, just imagine the amount of sequins I would have adorned my body with! There could have been so many sparkles...


Not to be outfoxed by Alex's plan to haul me into Sin City sans suitable sartorial supplies, I reached into my trusty ziploc bag of 'extras' and pulled out a onezie of epic (or floor length) proportions.

After I was properly attired, Alex took me on an all-out walking tour of every possible anything that one should ever see while on the strip.
Good thing I decided to wear wedges...

Hiking in Heels

Finally, the final installation of the photos from our road trip.

Alex and I pulled into Moab, Utah just before sunset and made a bee-line for Arches National Park before we missed the fantastic views it offered.

I hopped out of the car in a pair of Frye nude platform sandals and a copper colored dress, hoping that I'd blend in with my surroundings.



I may have matched the red rock formations, but I didn't exactly get the memo about the hiking boots avec nalgene dress code they seemed to be enforcing there. Weird.

As the sun went down, we took the chance to wander around the park and soak up the incredible natural monuments there. It became very dark very quickly, so we escorted ourselves out and off to our campsite where we fell asleep to the sound of the creek flowing by...
