Day 201 -- Single Petal of a Rose

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

When: Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

Where: Studio

I was in a huge hurry this morning to get out the door and take Bucket on a walk, so I just put on the first thing my hands touched. This outfit kind of works in its own little way. And it's so comfortable.

This pixelated rose print tee is one of my favorites, and it works well with other prints. The rich magenta of this solid jersey skirt ties in nicely with the colors in the rose, and, of course, I had to reach for my favorite pair of keds.

Day 200 -- Concert Cutie

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

When: Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Where: Lake Street Dive concert at the Fonda

I was feeling a bit like a glum bum all day, so when it came time to get dressed to go out, I decided to take a fun and girly approach. I also painted my nails to perk me right up! After a night out on the town in my frilliest skirt, I felt much better, refreshed and inspired.

Lake Street Dive is one of our favorite bands. I remember listening to their album in Alex's car on one of our first dates. We're hoping we'll be able to snag them for our wedding band. So, of course, when they came through town on a Josh Ritter tour, we had to head to Hollywood to see them. Funny thing is, I don't think I know a single Josh Ritter song! We really enjoyed Lake Street's set, and even got into the Josh songs we didn't know at all, but we kept cracking up thinking, "We don't know anything about this headliner!" Oops.

Josh even walked by when we were hanging around after the show and we didn't recognize him! We suck, sorry.

Day 199 -- Simplicity

Monday, March 18, 2013

When: Monday, March 18th, 2013

Where: Studio, and the Hollywood overlook dog park

It was such a beautiful day, we couldn't resist spending the morning at the park with Bucket running around. We went to the Hollywood overlook park for the first time with Bucket and he had the time of his life! While it was full of tourists, and I felt a bit like one myself, when the sun is shining, you can't help but smile.

This simple outfit was perfect for a simple day. I'm loving wearing keds lately. They are so comfortable and really cute! It's nice to become re-obsessed with clothing items right now when I can't go shopping. I love the look of cuffed jeans with cute sneaks and a tee. To keep it from looking to basic, I added this fun floral blazer that I think I've only worn once before! I got so many compliments on it while I was out, I might have to put it into more of a regular rotation.

Day 198 -- Little Leprechaun

Sunday, March 17, 2013

When: Sunday, March 17th, 2013 -- St Patrick's Day!

Where: Studio, brunch at The Local Peasant with Alex

When I first started my maternity wear business, I started trolling the internet for inspiration and one of the first blogs I found was Little Baby Garvin. I picked up reading right in the middle of Jessica's pregnancy and I loved all the pictures that she posted of her growing bump. What I didn't realize I'd take away from reading her blog was a new found love for holidays! This stylish mom has a tendency to overcelebrate and really enjoy special days to their fullest.

Her blog really inspired me to do the same! I'm planning a big party for this coming Easter/Passover (EastOver in our family), but I also couldn't resist indulging in St Patricks Day a little bit too. The first step for me was getting decked out in green. Once I had taken that step, it was hard to keep from making my whole outfit about a theme. So I didn't resist.

This striped dress was the jumping off point, but then I added a rainbow belt and I really started feeling the luck of the Irish. Now, you can't have a rainbow without a pot of gold, so I added some yellow touches to represent that. My bright yellow sweater even has a chain print... How apropos!

And since I was raised to believe that the best way to celebrate is with food, we definitely dug in a little bit. We had Guinness chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and green sprinkles, festive drinks with brunch -- mine was called the Tall Leprechaun, indulged in delicious crab cake benedict, and I made yummy Guinness beef stew with the rest of the beer I had left over from the cupcakes. So fun!

Day 197 -- Young at Heart

Saturday, March 16, 2013

When: Saturday, March 16th, 2013

Where: Studio

Taking pictures with my computer makes me feel like a teenager posing in the mirror. Or maybe it's just this outfit... So very Hit Me Baby, One More Time.

This is a variation of the outfit that got me famous. If you look at the photo from Philly, you can tell the pleats have been washed out a bit, but this skirt is still fun to wear while dancing around in your room to One Direction. ... I do feel like a teenager, after all.

Day 196 -- Ikat Stand This Heat!

Friday, March 15, 2013

When: Friday, March 14th, 2013

Where: Studio, then The Local Peasant with Miranda and her family

Another hot day. I opted for a really lightweight linen dress. This ikat print is so summery and trendy and I love the shape it gives me! It makes me feel curvy without feeling heavy or weighed down.

I went for the cool girl look with my old favorites -- these open toe booties. The old (Boston-living) me would have laughed in my face when I bought these. They are so impractical and don't make any sense. What use are boots if your feet will get wet anyway? I guess that's what makes these purely fashion shoes...
