Day 356 -- Cyclist

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

When: Wednesday, August 21st, 2013

Where: Studio, Work at Trinkets

This is me the day after working a shoot until 2 am, not feeling well, and still trying to pull myself together to go to work.

This is the best I could come up with: a knotted bicycle printed tee and a stretch knit pencil skirt. At least I matched my shoes to my top.

Day 355 -- Work Out

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

When:  Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

Where: Studio with Alex

Another day shooting for Alex, another dark outfit. You'd think it'd be easy for me to find tons of tres chic all black outfits in my closet, and I probably could, but the key to these shooting outfits in comfort. I found myself squatting sideways next to a drumset as well as crawling on the floor more than once in this outfit. When I shoot, I need to know for certain that I would be giving anyone a free show or splitting my pants in the process.

These dark wash jeans have proved to be a go-to for me when it comes to comfort and function. They are so stretchy that I could probably work out in them... Which coincidentally is exactly what it feels like to work in the studio for 12 hours straight.

Day 354 -- I've Got the Blues

Monday, August 19, 2013

When: Monday, August 19th, 2013

Where: Selvedge Yard in Berkeley, Dinner in Santa Cruz

Well, the weekend came and went, and it was time to head back to LA. As a last Bay Area hurrah, we headed up the Berkeley to visit Alex's favorite architectural selvedge yard. If and when we build or remodel our first home, we want to hit up this place and stock up on ornate doors, vintage sinks, retro stoves, and reclaimed wood. Can't wait!

On our way out of town, we stopped by the beach to grab some Hawaiian food and amazing ice cream, with my bestie and twinzie, Brett. In true twin form, we both wore blue! Check her out killin' it in this lace dress! And that streak of pink in her hair? To dye for! (haha)

Day 353 -- Taco Party

Sunday, August 18, 2013
When: Sunday, August 18th, 2013

Where: Mom's garden for a taco truck party!

Oops! This is the only picture I snapped of my outfit. I guess I was just having too much fun eating tacos and drinking wine!

My mom treated me to a little shopping spree this morning, and she insisted that I get this dress. She knows me well enough to know that I would flip over this polar bear dress. And flip I did! Thanks mom!

Day 352 -- Road Tripping

Saturday, August 17, 2013

When: Saturday, August 17th, 2013

Where: Road tripping up the California coast

Whenever I travel, I try to dress as comfortably as I can. Now, I know what you're thinking -- those heels are crazy! And yes, they are. For most of the drive, I was barefoot with a dog in my lap. I really wanted to pack these shoes for my mom's upcoming garden party, but they didn't fit in my weekend bag, so I just wore them! Problem solved.

I've been wearing this polka dot dress a lot this summer, so I wanted to find a way to style it differently. I thought wearing a pencil skirt underneath would give the dress a sort of peplum effect. It also lengthened the hem line enough to make it appropriate for those fill-up breaks at those pesky truck stops.

Day 351 -- Mainstay

Friday, August 16, 2013

When: Friday, August 16th, 2013

Where: Meeting at Mimi and Hy, Working at Trinkets, and Shooting at Vitellos, part 2

When I know I have a busy day coming up, I always try to dress as comfortably as possible. I knew I was going to have to jump from a meeting, to a shift in the gift shop, on to working as a second shooter for Alex in a dark night club... which usually means dark clothing.

This summer, maxi skirts and sheer fabrics have been my mainstay. On days when I don't feel like shaving my legs (or my underarms for that matter), an outfit like this can work wonders! This would be a great look to transition into fall, but the lightweight fabrics work perfectly for these super stifling summer days!

Day 350 -- Queen Bee

Thursday, August 15, 2013

When: Thursday, August 15th, 2013

Where: Filming Jazz at Vitellos

So what, I'm working as a shooter and I'm not wearing black? Alex said it was okay! Plus, I was trying to look like a royal for the Coast to Coast Challenge. See the royal blue and queen bee inspiration?

I used to wear this blue lace dress all the time when I worked at Alexis Bittar. After a few washes, it has definitely shrunk a bit, but there will be no replacing it until next January! Still, it's a reliable piece and I love wearing it!
