Day 195 -- Hot Hot Heat

Thursday, March 14, 2013

When: Thursday, March 14th, 2013

Where: Studio, dog park

OMG, it was so hot that I thought I was going to blow up! (That is so something my sister, Maija, would say.) Can't you tell by all my poses that I'm just sweltering? I couldn't bear to wear anything that clung to me, so I busted out this maxi I wore all over Egypt. It kind of worked.

When it's super toasty out, my best bet is to avoid over dressing. One easy dress, and a few accessories are enough for me. I updated this look with a tan belt to match my leopard flats, and a pair of sunnies to keep my cornea from burning. I've been carrying this Marc tote everywhere because I can always stash a notebook in it.

Day 194 -- Not Your Average Jort

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

When: Wednesday, March 13th, 2013

Where: Studio

Let me tell you a secret: I hate shorts. Really, I do. Very few people look good in them, they tend to expose too much, squeeze you in the wrong places and I hate the way they feel when you sit! Ick.

But, Jessica makes a very good point in this post. With the right fit and mixture of textures, shorts can actually work. I got these shorts over a year ago on deep sale at the gap, probably because they scream 90s mom, but I love them! I like the high waist fit and the flare of the leg. Nothing is worse than a cutoff jort that leaves nothing to the imagination. I mixed them with some simple and classic pieces and tried not to be too 'fashiony' with this outfit. After all, I'm only wearing them to my office of one.

Day 193 -- Strawberry Shortcake

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

When: Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

Where: Studio

This dress is literally one of my favorites of all time -- I can't believe I haven't worn it in the past 200 days or so! I'm obsessed with the strawberry print, retro cut, modern midi length, soft and breezy cotton fabric, and the pockets!!

It's really starting to heat up, and wearing this with my office windows wide open made the work day zoom by! I worked all the way to 10 o'clock and forgot to even catch Pretty Little Liars, I was so zoned in. That's saying a lot.

Day 192 -- Zig and Zag

Monday, March 11, 2013

When: Monday, March 11th, 2013

Where: Shopping at Fabric Planet, studio

It was a bit of a Manic Monday as I got back into the swing of things. Sometimes I'm afraid that if I take a day off, I'll lose my momentum. Luckily, I love my job so much I rarely feel like I need a break. It also doesn't hurt that walking the dog at sunset provides me with a nice deep breath at the end of the day.

I tried to step my outfit up a teeny bit after wearing jeans yesterday, but I was still feeling in my comfy mode, so drapy and loose fitting clothes was the way to go. I'm also loving black and white right now. So chic.

Day 191 -- Sunday Funday

Sunday, March 10, 2013

When: Sunday, March 10th, 2013

Where: The Rose Bowl Flea Market, driving through the Angeles Forest

Alex and I took a couple hours off to enjoy our Sunday, for once. We wandered through the stalls at the Rose Bowl marveling at all the goodies, but didn't buy.

After we left the market, we drove up into the mountains above Pasadena. It was such a beautiful, clear day, it was hard not to feel very content to enjoy it with my beau.

Sweater: Vivian Tam | Shirt: Gap | Jeans: Rich and Skinny

Day 190 -- Navy Baby

Saturday, March 9, 2013

When: Saturday, March 9th, 2013

Where: Meeting with Larz from Handmade LA

I kept it casual but polished for my meeting with the owner of a handmade craft gallery. I tried to look my best but not like I was trying too hard, and keep to focus off my crazy outfit and on my own pieces. I guess my approach worked because he liked what I showed him, and I will be selling out of his shop come May! It feels very unofficial because we didn't file any paperwork yet, but I am definitely looking forward to hocking my wears on a more permanent basis!

I wore this dress in the fall with a pair of tights, but now that the weather is warming up, a cute bomber sweater and bare legs felt just right. Since this dress is a bit busy, I always take care to ground it with solid colors, like the navy in my sweater and shoes.

Day 189 -- Cutie Fruity

Friday, March 8, 2013

When: Friday, March 8th, 2013

Where: Studio

Pineapples are cute and pants keep me warm. No one saw me but the neighborhood dogs. That pretty much sums up this outfit.

I have basically been living in my California necklace lately. Now that I don't work in a jewelry store that prohibits me from wearing designs by other people, I can really enjoy this amazing gift!
