Day 292 -- In a Pinch

Please excuse how grainy these photos are and how weird I look in every single one of them. We took these right after they flicked the light on at the Wiltern and were trying to kick us out. Luckily, we got to stick around with our backstage passes. Muahaha. Oh, the perks of having musician friends.

I'll be honest, I put this outfit together in about 5 seconds. I had been wearing these shorts and an oversize white tee for most of the day because it was so hot, but I had to make myself presentable real quick! I grabbed this tank -- which I hardly ever wear -- because the grey tied in with the colors in the shorts. Because the tank was so see through sheer, I layered a cropped sweater for more coverage. The sandals matched and I knew I could stand in them all night if I had to. Luckily, I didn't.

Day 291 -- Busy/Lazy

I know I wore this shirt about 2 seconds ago, but I just did laundry and it was sitting right on top of the clean pile when I got dressed this morning. And it seemed too good to pass up pairing it with these neon jeans.

I stepped it up a little bit from my normal busy workday / lazy dressing day outfit by wearing some jewelry. I've recently discovered that I hate wearing bracelets when I have a lot to get done because they always get in my way. They looked cute while we took photos in the late afternoon sun, though...

Day 290 -- Runway to Reality

 After taking the day off yesterday to enjoy the jazz festival, I realized it was really time for the rubber to meet the road. I had a ton to get done before my vacation began in a week! It was one of those get-dressed-because-it's-illegal-to-go-out-in-public-naked kind of days.

I threw on this trusty Gap maxi skirt (two maxis in a row, how shameful!), and an easy tee. Note the wet hair -- very Prada FW2014, don't you think?

Day 289 -- Festival Flower Child

Where: Playboy Jazz Festival

I don't care what kind of music it is, if I'm heading to a festival, you better believe I'm going to dress up like a hippie flower child. Nothing like a little print mixing, flowing fabrics, and some free beads to put me in the mood!

Alex and I had a great time sipping wine, checking out the view, and enjoying live music without having to work at the same time. It was a nice little break at the end of a long work week.

Day 288 -- Flashback Friday

Pulling out an old piece yesterday really inspired me to dig deeper into my closet today. I found this flimsy little thing draped in the back of my wardrobe. I used to wear this dress all the time in hte hot, humid Boston summer, but I have neglected it since I moved to LA. Probably because it's too short, cuts me unflatteringly across the tummy, and it looks cheap.

I did my best to dress up this dress with a trendy french braid and soft pink sandals, but overall, this is not my favorite look. Back in the closet with you! I'll try harder tomorrow.

Day 287 -- Throwback Thursday

Beautiful summer days call for cute summer rompers. I have had this one for years, but haven't worn it in a very long time. I used to be all about onezies, but I've sort of been off them lately because they are so hard to take off when you need to use the bathroom -- but that's not for here!

In honor of this romper's resurrection, I also pulled these earrings out. It's fun wearing old or neglected pieces and remembering a former you. I feel like I would have totally worn this outfit to work at Second Time Around  with my canvas MJ tote over my shoulder and a pair of iPod earbuds blasting Paramore.

Day 286 -- Wearing My Blacks

When: Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

Where: The Mint, shooting with Alex

It's already been such a busy week and it's only Wednesday! Photo shoots, secret projects, and now a film shoot! Alex and I did a day shoot at the Mint today for an R&B performance video. It was the first thing I've ever worked on that wasn't live. That is to say that there was no audience and we could do multiple takes. It really relieved the pressure of getting the perfect shot the first time and I really enjoyed it.

It reminded me a lot of when I used to do costuming. It felt a lot like a film set. At lunch, we even divided off cast/crew style. My fellow black-wearing crew members and I sat at our own little table while we munched on pizza. It felt almost like being back in high school, wearing my blacks.
