Day 313 -- Improvement

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

When: Tuesday, July 9th, 2013

Where: Interviews

I busted out my favorite dress for an interview for a part time job that I really wanted. I decided to come out with guns blazing (fashion-wise) in order to give me the best shot at getting the job. Not only did I get tons of compliments on my outfit, but I also landed the gig!

We celebrated with a trip to the hardware store! Kind of. In the middle of trying to find more work, we're also in the middle of some minor home improvements. Which meant wearing a frilly dress and silver sandals down the extension cord aisle??

Day 312 -- Uniformly Unique

Monday, July 8, 2013

 When: Monday, July, 8th, 2013

Where: Studio

This is quickly becoming my favorite summer uniform: a too-short dress paired with some 90s bike shorts. I've always been a fan of the look and feel of a dress, but sometimes in summer, shorts are just necessary. Call me modest, but I don't think anyone really cares to see my fanny while bending over the in the grocery store. Thank god I've held onto the same Gap stretch shorts I've had since 6th grade!

I love the cut of this dress! The black side panels create a slimmer silhouette, and the print is young, fun and so me. Topping this look off with my new favorite, go-to bag was a no-brainer for me. This Kate Spade wonder gives the feel of a fresh white summer bag, without having to worry about maintaining the finish. The basket weave gives it that endless summer feel, and the color should easily transfer into the fall months...

Day 311 -- Wild Rumpus

Sunday, July 7, 2013

 When: Sunday, July 7th, 2013

Where: Studio

This is what happens when I work in my studio all day and then forget to take outfit photos until after sundown. I hate to beat a dead horse, but it is so hot here! I can hardly bear to wear clothes. This light cotton romper is the perfect one-piece outfit -- except for the fact that I always wear a tank under it and then accessorize with banana earrings. Oh well.

I'm hoping the weather will cool down a bit soon, because I am looking forward to actually putting outfits together rather than just throwing on the first thing I see so I can walk the dog and get through the day.

Day 310 -- Short Post

Saturday, July 6, 2013

When: Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Where: Studio

Hot hot Los Angeles calls for brand new gingham shorts. Shout out to Alex for taking me shopping!

Day 309 -- On The Hunt

Friday, July 5, 2013

When: Friday, July 5th, 2013

Where: Out and About Studio City

After a relaxing day off, it was time for the rubber to meet the road. My new website launched, but working for myself still wasn't enough to keep me busy... or pay my bills. So, I decided to pound a little pavement and find myself a little part time job.

Whenever I'm job hunting, I always take care to look my best. It really is a shame, but the truth is that people do judge you by the way you look, and it's important to put your best foot forward. It was boiling out, so I put my day-old hair up in a ballerina bun, layered a trendy jean jacket over a light silk dress, and a pair of wedges. Here in LA, heels are the thing. If you really want to stand out, strap on those heels, even if you're a flats devotee, like me.

Day 308 -- Independence Day

Thursday, July 4, 2013

When: Thursday, July 4th, 2013

Where: Malibu

Alex and I had vowed to make plans for the fourth, but when the holiday rolled around, we found ourselves in our offices... working. As the day wore on, we decided we needed to get out of the house.

First things first: I needed to find a fourth-worth outfit. Under the pressure of leaving the house before sundown, I decided on a red white and blue dress, ironically purchased in London, worn as a skirt, and one of Alex's old white tees tied in a knot. I love the clean easy look of a crisp white tee, and it's always fun to borrow from the boys.

Day 307 -- New Again

Wednesday, July 3, 2013

When: Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013

Where: Studio

With the hot hot weather in LA heating up even more, it was time to break out an old favorite. I loved this dress so much, I bought it in two colors! I've ignored this little number over the past few months, but seeing it hanging lonely in my closet and needing an easy dress in a pinch to take Bucket out on a walk, I threw it on and ran.

This is the type of dress I would usually wear with a belt -- okay, you got me! I wear every dress with  belt! -- but sometimes when it really is that hot out it's impossible to accessorize. Even wearing this necklace made me feel overdressed for the weather!
